Pixologic ZBrush 2024
Pixologic ZBrush Software Overview 3D Sculpting Textures:
Pixologic ZBrush 2021 is a digital sculpting tool that combines 3D/2.5D modeling, texturing, and painting. This release adds a non-photorealistic rendering toolset, new alpha modeling functionality, universal cameras, support for folders, and updates to the ZRemeher regression system.
ZBrush is used to create high-resolution models (up to 40 million polygons) for use in film, games, and animation, by companies ranging from ILM and Weta Digital to Epic Games and Electronic Arts. ZBrush 2020 uses dynamic resolution levels to allow sculptors to make global or local changes to their models. ZBrush is best known for being able to sculpt mid- to high-frequency details traditionally drawn onto a map. The resulting mesh details can then be exported as normal maps to be used on a low-poly version of the same model.

Features of Pixologic ZBrush
– Directory
- First previewed at last year’s ZBrush Summit, the Folders feature was the implementation of one of the most popular feature requests from our users. However, in ZBrush 2019, it’s more than just a way to organize your SubTools. A variety of actions can be performed at the folder level, affecting all SubTools found within. Examples include performing quick 3D transformations or Live Boolean operations.
– Multi-function camera
- Also previewed at ZBrush Summit, this new camera system simulates a real-world camera complete with settings for Focal Length, Crop Factor, and more. This allows your ZBrush scenes to match perfectly with any other application or mirror an imported (or rendered) photo. It supports undo/redo camera movements and settings can be saved for instant recall at any time.
– Non-Photorealistic Rendering (NPR)
- This new set of tools creates a sketching style that recreates the feel and shape of a 2D hand. With the ability to add overlapping textures, apply halftones, draw dark outlines around a 3D model, or apply a number of presets, the new NPR system opens up a whole world of artistic possibilities – whether you’re conceptualizing, sculpting, or preparing a final render.
– SpotLight v2.0 – Snapshot3D
- SpotLight v2.0 includes all the powerful projection mapping and PolyPaint features you are used to. It also allows any grayscale (alpha) image to be converted into a 3D model. The source images can be modified in SpotLight or even combined through Boolean addition or subtraction to create even more complex 3D shapes. The model created by this system can serve as a basis for sculpting or even be used with the Live Boolean system to create complex works of art.
– ZRemeher v3.0
- ZRemeher’s proprietary automated toolset has been a staple in the modern ZBrush artist’s workflow. Now it goes to the next level with ZRemeher v3.0. Enhanced systems can preserve creased edges and automatically detect sharp surface corners, ideal for mechanical models. The result is also a more efficient final polygon count… all while actually increasing speed!
– Intersection Masker
- The Intersection Masker plugin (included in all ZBrush 2019 installations) allows you to create masks where geometry islands intersect on the selected SubTool. It is the perfect solution for creating complex masks in just a few clicks.
